Action Against Hunger is an International Non-Governmental Organization that is charitable, impartial, non-political, independent and non-profit making. Action Against Hunger overall objective in these contexts is to fight against hunger and this is achieved through the implementation of nutrition, health, food security and water & sanitation (WASH) projects. Action Against Hunger is seeking motivated, dynamic and experienced candidates for the following positions:

 

Mental Health and Care Practices Head of Project

 

Duration of Contract: 11 Months                                                    

LOCATIONS: Moyamba

END OF CONTRACT DATE: 30th June, 2019                              

STARTING DATE: 1st August 2018

PROBATION PERIOD: Three (3) Months                                   

SUPERVISED BY: Field Coordinator   

NUMBER OF CANDIDATES: One (1)

 

Assignments:

Ensure the Mental Health and Psychosocial support activities are implemented according to plan

  • Provide technical support to project staff on mental health and psychosocial support
  • Supervise and train project staff.
  • Assist project staff in the identification and follow-up of beneficiaries.
  • Objective 1 : Provide technical support to the implementation of  mental health and psychosocial activities :

    Activities :

    • Provide technical support and supervise the work of the project staff
    • Follow up ongoing activities and ensure they meet the needs of beneficiaries: e.g. assist in the organization of mother support groups and home visits of beneficiaries
    • Supervise mother leaders in the identification and follow up of beneficiaries in psychological distress

    Objective 2 : perform data analysis, monitoring and evaluation.

    Activities :

    • Assist project staff in data collection , analysis and revision of reports
    • Assist in writing monthly activity program report, donors reports
    • Joint monitoring visit with DHMT

    Objective 3 : Participate in the management and capacity building of  project staff :

    Activities 

    • Participate in the recruitment of project staff including team leaders, community promoters, mother leaders
    • Participate in defining team’s objectives.
    • Identify training needs of project staff in mental health, care practices, psychosocial support
    • Organize regular meetings with project staff
    • Organize and provide training to project staff accordingly

    Objective 4 : Coordination external and internal

    Activities :

    •  Liaise with mental health, psychosocial support, gender and protection of  international, local organizations from the civil society and government
    • Participate in meetings

    Objective 5 : Maintain strict respect for confidentiality :

    Activities :

    Ensure that the confidentiality of data, the property of Action Against Hunger project beneficiaries, is strictly maintained.

    Respect the confidentiality of the content of clinical interviews apart from discussions with the psychologists in charge

Educational / Professional background 

  • Psychologist, social studies, psychosocial background

 

Required skills

  • Minimum 2 years of humanitarian experience – mental health and/or psychosocial support,
  • Counselling experience  -
  • Good capacity building skills
  • Good supervision skills
  • Good listening and communication skills
  •  Good command of Microsoft and English.
  • Excellent sense of confidentiality

Preferred skills

  • Early Childhood Development – IYCF – Care Practices
  • Team management
  • knowledge in project cycle management
