GOAL is long established in Sierra Leone and has teams in Western Area Urban (Freetown), Kambia, Kenema, Bombali, Kambia, Koinadugu and Moyamba Districts. We contribute to poverty and vulnerability reduction, and focus on maternal, child and adolescent health, sustainable improvements to rural water supply, urban waste management (in Freetown) and promoting social inclusion and decent work.
GOAL is looking for a highly qualified, motivated and dynamic Sierra Leonean to join our team and work with us and our partners to champion safeguarding, inclusion and gender mainstreaming within our organisation and through our projects. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Location: Freetown with travel to field locations (30%)
Report to: Assistant Country Director – Programmes with a technical reporting line to GOAL’s Global Safeguarding Advisor
The Safeguarding Manager role will be involved in a wide range of activities from overseeing the implementation of GOAL’s safeguarding policies and guidelines, including the Child Protection (CP) policy, protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy, the Code of Conduct (CoC) and the Whistleblowing policy, and with the aim of creating a working environment free from SEA of children and adults perpetrated by GOAL or its representatives, and promoting quality and accountability across GOAL’s programmes.
To succeed in this role, you will have a Degree in Social Work or equivalent in related field with at least three (3) years of relevant program management or technical advisory experience, including conducting context analysis, working on safeguarding initiatives, or child protection and gender programming preferably in an NGO context. You must have sound knowledge of the common humanitarian standards and strong commitment to confidentiality. Excellent English and Krio speaking/writing and computer skills are required.
