Location: Kenema with frequent travel to field locations
Reports to: Country Director
The role: GOAL is looking for a highly qualified, motivated and dynamic Sierra Leonean to join our team as Area Coordinator (AC), working with us and our partners to ensure good management of GOAL’s programme activities in Kenema (covering the South East).
The AC role sits on the GOAL SL Senior Management Team (SMT) and is responsible for oversight of the operational support functions (Human Resources, Logistics, Finance & Admin, and Security) and direct programme activities. The AC is the primary focal point for coordination, programme planning and overseeing the day-to-day operations of senior field staff.
GOAL has been present in Sierra Leone for 20 years and has teams in Western Area Urban (Freetown), Kambia, Kenema, Bombali, Koinadugu and Moyamba Districts. Our overall programme aim is poverty and vulnerability reduction through a focus on maternal, child and adolescent health, sustainable improvements to rural water supply, urban waste management (in Freetown) and promoting social inclusion and promoting a decent work environment.
Who we are looking for: To succeed in this role, you will have an academic qualification in development, public policy, health related, finance or other relevant subject with significant working experience in a management role or technical advisory with budget management oversight. You will have a commitment to ethical leadership, and have experience in building teams towards a shared vision. You will have empathetic communication skills and a collaborative approach to team communications, and a strong understanding of risk management, accountability, transparency and safeguarding.
Additional desirable specifications include a solid grounding in development principles, knowledge and experience of programmes implemented using systems strengthening and/or M4P approach. Candidates with an interest in health systems strengthening, WASH or emergency response are encouraged to apply.
