Action Against Hunger is an International Non-Governmental Organization that is charitable, impartial, non-political, independent and non-profit making. Action Against Hunger overall objective in these contexts is to fight against hunger and this is achieved through the implementation of nutrition, health, food security and water & sanitation (WASH) projects. Action Against Hunger is seeking motivated, dynamic and experienced candidates for the following positions:

 

FIELD MONITOR - FSL

 

Duration of Contract: 5 Months                                                        

LOCATIONS: East Freetown

END OF CONTRACT DATE: 30th June 2019                                   

STARTING DATE: 1st February 2019

PROBATION PERIOD: Two (2) Months                                       

SUPERVISED BY: Head of project

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: one (1)    

NUMBER OF CANDIDATES: one (1)

 

Assignments:

Train/mobilize/organize the beneficiary populations; implement and monitor the project activities

Objectives:

Objective 1 : Carry out training/mobilizing/organizing activities

Activities:

  • Identify existing local capacities and opportunities in the communities

  • Assess the potential beneficiaries with questionnaires and collect data

  • Implement technical activities with target households mainly on the farming, income generating activities, VSLA and training at grass root level

  • Supervise and train target communities

  • Prepare necessary teaching material for the sessions

  • Organize these training sessions with the beneficiaries in coordination with the other field team

  • Organize the training sessions and check the lessons learnt

  • Organize, carry-out and monitor the project activities

  • Collect, record and report data pertaining to project activities and beneficiaries

  • Keep the Head of Project informed of the activities, problems and success

  • Propose possible improvements

  • Write an activity progress report as requested by his/her immediate supervisor

  • Perform the duties assigned by the Head of Project.

Objective  2 : Communicate the Organization’s activities and objectives to the partners:

Activities :

  • Explain the project’s activities and objectives to the partners and the population;

  • Represent the Organization in meetings with the beneficiaries.

 

In collaboration with community officials and in close relation with the beneficiaries.

Together with the Head of the Project.

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Diploma/ Certificate in Rural Development or Agriculture

  • 1-2 Years experience in community mobilization and project monitory and implementation

Required skills:

  • Knowledge of farming techniques (especially for vegetable and pulses cultivation)

  • Knowledge/experience on Income Generating Activities (IGAs)

  • Community participation/empowerment approaches like VSLA

  • Good knowledge of the project area and culture (Western Areas)

  • Capacity to communicate with people

  • Training and teaching skills

  • Good team spirit

  • Knowledge of English and Krio

  • Motor bicycles driving licence

  • Previous employment in ACF is advantageous
