Position:  Emergency Response Project Officer 

Job Location: Portloko/ Freetown  


Major Duties and Responsibilities of Emergency Response Project Officer: 

  • Support BRAC Sierra Leone Emergency Response Coordinator to develop emergency preparedness and response plan considering country situation/crisis.

  • Conduct country risk assessment for designing emergency response strategies and implementation of plans.

  • Support in programme monitoring, assessment and evaluation for ensuring emergency response.

  • Develop and maintain strong collaboration and networking partnerships with key stakeholders (local and country-wide) and community partners for involvement in emergency management activities.

  • Conduct training on disaster risk reduction and disaster management.

  • Monitor and in some cases work with the Emergency Response Community Mobilisers.

  • Implement activities timely and with quality.

  • Liaison and rapport building with local government, community leaders and schools.

Safeguarding job responsibilities 

  • Read, understand, practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action


  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Key Performance Indicators: 

  • Experience in emergency response/disaster management and disaster risk reduction

  • Knowledge in coordination and mechanism

  • Coordination with ER Coordinator with matters regarding emergency risk, disaster etc.

  • Experience of working with volunteers and communities.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Writing and reporting skills

  • Understand coordination mechanism and process.

  • Understand disaster context.


Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in a related field

Educational Qualifications  

Bachelor Degree in Social Science or related field of study from a recognized institution

Employment type: Contractual
